While the Warsong Gulch and Alterac Valley Battlegrounds were originally opened at 2:00 pm PST today, Blizzard has decided to temporarily disable these Battlegrounds as the fix an issue with characters from Season of Discovery appearing in these queues.
I can confirm that all Battlegrounds have been disabled on Anniversary realms while we fix the issue.
